Here we are at the end of March and navigating some truly unprecedented times that most of us have never had to experience.
But what I find inspiring and uplifting is the real human resilience and kindness being shown not just locally but nationally, internationally and globally.
To share a few examples, people continue to support their local restaurants by ordering food for curb side pick-up or delivery to help them sustain some of their favourite businesses.
Another really inspiring story came from the CEO of Marriott International, Arne Sorenson. Not only is the man currently undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer, he is leading a large organization through unbelievably tough times for an industry completely reliant on travel and event bookings.
See his inspiring video on Twitter here, where he shows unwavering leadership and most importantly, a commitment to the greater team or good of the company. He will not be taking a salary for the remainder of the year, nor will Mr. Marriott. They also have their executive team taking a 50% pay cut as well. That is a person and a company that truly cares about their employees.
Healthcare workers are the real heroes. Going to work each day, putting themselves in a high-risk situation to help treat the compromised patients affected by this pandemic. Please show them some love and support! Check out my post on Instagram and Facebook where my friend Mario in Brazil is honouring them each night.
So be kind, quarantine yourself if you’ve traveled, self-isolate to look after your family and loved ones, fellow neighbours and community.
Most importantly, what are you doing to be kind today?
